Gum diseases are very common among our population. Periodontal disease is chronic bacterial infection that affect the gum & supporting bone tissue of the tooth. It begins when this bacterial plague stick on the tooth & produce toxin which separate gum from teeth forming pocket. As the diseases progress more gum tissue & tooth surrounding bones are destroyed, gum recede & teeth become loosen & lost. This gum diseases also known as Pyorrhoea. |

Prevention of gum disease:

- Proper brushing & flossing everyday to remove bacterial plague.
- Stop smoking & take nutritional diet.
- Visit your dentist at least once a year.

Treatment of gum disease:

- Ultrasonic scaling.
- Root planing.
In advance cases :
- Gum flap surgery.
- Gum and bone grafting.
